Helichrysum belongs to the sunflower family of flowers and has a beautiful deep yellow appearance. The name derives from two Greek words: helisso (meaning to revolve around) and chrysos (meaning gold). When you purchase Helichrysum from Purely, you’re purchasing Helichrysum italicum.
Extracted using steam distillation, many refer to Helichrysum as “liquid gold” because of its many uses.
Helichrysum promotes emotional well-being. It is known to help get rid of negative feelings. Many people also use this aromatic essential oil for detox.
Helichrysum essential oil helps to control and reverse the signs of aging. A number of skin-care products include Helichrysum essential oil because it helps to reduce scarring, sunburn, puffiness under the eyes, and acne.
Helichrysum essential oil is also known as “everlasting oil” probably because the flowers of this plant retain their color, aroma and shape even when dried.
Because of its strong fruit-like and sweet fragrance, it is one of the most widely-used essential oils in aromatherapy.
How to Use
To diffuse Helichrysum, add 3-5 drops to your diffuser.
To use topically, add Helichrysum to your carrier of choice. For 1% dilution, use 1 drop of oil to 1 tsp of carrier. For 2% dilution, use 2 drops of oil to 1 tsp of carrier.
For steam inhalation, add 2-3 drops of oil to steaming hot water and inhale.
If blending with other oils, Helichrysum blends well with Tea Tree, Lavender, Bergamot and Roman Chamomile.
